Pineton Tree Farms, formerly known as Carino Nurseries, continues to be a third generation family buisness. A wholesaler of top quality sheared, plantation grown Christmas trees.
We have been growing trees in Indiana County, PA, the Christmas Tree Capital of the world, since 1946. Founded by A.F.”Tony” Carino, Grandfather of current owner Doug Wilhide and developed by Uncle James L. Carino and Cousin Laura Carino Musser.
Carino Nurseries Began it’s fresh-cut Christmas tree operation by planting Scotch Pine seedlings. Over the years other tree varieties were added to inventory. As of today our current inventory on nearly a dozen farm plantations includes primarily Fraser Fir along with Canaan Fir, Balsam Fir, Douglas Fir, White Pine, Norway Spruce and Colorado Blue Spruce.
Doug has been active as Field Operations Supervisor for over thirty years. His duties have always included on hands management of every day field production. He works with his experienced crew in the field for the entire shearing season.
Doug then begins the long Inventory Process which includes individually tagging each and every tree according to Size, Variety and Quality of Appearance.
Finally comes Harvest! Doug, along with his crews work to bring inventoried trees back to our distribution yard as carefully and quickly as possible to ensure tree freshness.
The goal of Doug and his wife Jodi as Pineton Tree Farms will be to continue the tradition using the knowledge that has been past down from over sixty-five years by the two previous generations.
Please come visit us, plantation tours are always welcome!!
